Hello! I'm Lige Mitchell. Beyond the punches and takedowns, I'm a devoted husband and proud father to two incredible kids. My journey with sports began in college baseball, but life steered me towards a banking career until I felt a calling at 28.
Wanting to reclaim my athletic spirit, Brazilian jiu-jitsu entered my life, initially as a hobby. But it swiftly grew into a passionate obsession. By 31, MMA became my arena, and I marked my debut fight in 2021. My amateur career shone brightly, with an undefeated 4-0 record, culminating as the Lightweight Champion for Summit Fighting Championship. This success propelled me to the professional stage, realizing a lifelong aspiration. Today, I stand proud with victories in esteemed arenas, including Cage Fury, boasting a professional record of 4-3.
A cornerstone of my MMA journey has been the guidance and mentorship of Cody Floyd at Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy. As my head MMA coach, Cody hasn't just taught me techniques; he's imparted wisdom, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to the craft. His influence extends beyond the mat, with his support playing a pivotal role both in my professional fights and personal growth. Under Cody's watchful eye, I earned my purple belt—a testament to our joint dedication and his belief in my potential. Through the highs and lows, Cody has been a consistent pillar of support, generosity, and expertise.
Training further, I've had sessions at top-tier gyms like Kill Cliff FC, sharing moments with luminaries from UFC, One, Bellator, PFL, and Rizin. Corey Shouse at Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy has been instrumental in my strength and conditioning journey. When it comes to striking, the expertise of Ben Parrish and Larry Greene has been invaluable.
Further refining my athletic prowess, I've also trained under emerging talents Adam Snyder and Ivan Mascio of Counterstrike Combat Sports—a program that mirrors the esteemed Phil Daru. Their innovative training methods, shared with MMA veterans like Jimmie Rivera and Shane Burgos, have been pivotal in shaping my skills. Additionally, I collaborate with a top-tier flexibility/mobility coach from Canada, whose expertise is sought after by elite fighters from the UFC and other top promotions.
Today, armed with a wealth of knowledge and experience, I'm eager to share this MMA treasure with Tupelo. I bring to you a unique blend of all I've learned, ensuring you experience unparalleled MMA fitness. And as I chase this vision, my family's unwavering support remains my anchor.
